Before seeing "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", I did see an interview with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) in which he describes his character and how he prepared to be Draco. So, even before I swiped my debit card to get our tickets, I knew that Draco would be a major character for the 'dark side' in this Harry Potter film.
Like in all teenage life, love and the infatuation with making out come into play. Love that has been evident for awhile finally emerges. Death, destruction, love, mayhem, sadness, and fear all make numerous appearances in "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince".
Tom Riddle again makes an appearance in this film, but as his childhood and teenage self, which will cover how he became so evil and powerful.
The CGI in the film was much like the CGI before. The action was a bit repetitive I thought. When I left the movie theater, I did not feel complete like in the majority of other movies, including the previous "Harry Potter" films. Although the movie did have a flow to it, I didn't feel that it followed the typical movie plot line (i.e.: beginning, introduction to the problem, climax, solution to problem, ending). Instead, I felt that the movie never quite had a solution. It was one problem after another. Never a solution in either way (good or evil wins).
Also, I left having more questions than before. What happened to "the Half Blood Prince" to make him so bad? Who actually his the "Half Blood Prince" supposed to be (I mean what importance does he have – not which character)? Why can't the dead be revived? Where do the evil-doers go after they commit murder? What happens to Draco? Why are none of the professors trying to help Harry, Hermione, and Ron? Where do they go? Who is RAB? Does love conquer all?
While I usually really like the "Harry Potter" movies, I did not enjoy this one. Some parts were good (not really good), some were sad, and some were funny; however, overall, I was not happy with it.
I am still planning to see the remaining "Harry Potter" movies, but will try to erase this one from my memory.
---AND THE RESULTS ARE IN ---
Visuals – 4/5
CGI – 3/5
Casting – 4/5
Directing – 4/5
Errors – 2/5
Cool Stuff – 2/5
Overall Plot – 2/5
Overall Score – 6/10
Would I recommend this film? Depends. If you are a "Harry Potter" fan, I probably would; however, I would heed a warning that you may not be satisfied or happy with the film. If you are not a fan, then I do not recommend seeing it.
Would I see this film again? Probably not. I will buy it to continue the set of "Harry Potter" films, but will probably never watch it again.
Was I glad I saw it in the theater? Not really.
